Al-Anon &
Alateen
Al-Anon is a worldwide network of self-help groups
offering understanding and support for families and
friends of problem drinkers, whether the alcoholic is
Alateen is a part of Al-Anon.
For young people aged 12 - 20 who have been affected
by someone's else's drinking, usually that of a parent.
Alateen provides
understanding and support, which helps them to improve
lives and recognise that they are no
longer alone and learn about alcoholism as a "family
illness".

on alcohol and drugs for young people 11-25 (priority
13-21);

• Informal educational workshops to young people
on alcohol and
drug issues at various venues dependent on need (e.g.
youth clubs, young women’s projects);
• Guidance, information,
workshops and advice to other professionals on alcohol
to volatile substance abuse;
• "Mobile" work (rural areas);
• HIV Safe Sex workshops;
• Flexible, a commitment to good practice and
adherence to SCODA’s and legal centre’s

A multi-disciplinary drug and alcohol
service for the Waveney area.
