Syphilis
What is it?
Quite an uncommon bacterial infection, which is Sexually transmitted.
How did I get it?
Unprotected sex, including oral sex.
What are the symptoms?
A painless sore may appear most commonly on the genital area or
inside the mouth. These may go unnoticed.
There are other symptoms that occur after many years if left untreated,
which can be serious.
What will it do to me?
Untreated Syphilis can cause serious health problems, which can
affect your heart and nervous system over a period of many years.
These may be irreversible.

GUM/Sexual Health clinic, or a Doctor.
Can it be treated?
Yes, treatment with antibiotics in the early stage, of the infection
is very effective.
If you have this infection your partner will also need treatment,
even if they feel fine.
Always wearing a condom during sex will reduce the
risk of becoming infected.
